our mission Youth Leadership Institute builds communities where young people and their adult allies come together to create positive social change.
We design and implement community-based programs that provide teens with leadership skills in the areas of prevention, philanthropy, and policy and civic engagement.
Building on these real-world program experiences, YLI creates evidence-based curriculum and training programs that enable us to engage in social change efforts across the nation, all while promoting best practices in the field of youth development.
Our Values
Youth-Adult Partnerships We will be intentional about structuring youth-adult partnerships in our programs, operations and governance.
Community Building We are committed to having a strong presence and making significant contributions in the communities where we work and live.
Learning and Teaching We will create and maintain a "learning and teaching" environment that allows us to capture our knowledge and disseminate it.
Leadership and Advocacy We will play a visible leadership role as advocates for public policy and system change.
Social Justice We will work for social justice in the lives of young people, and by extension, in the lives of communities as a whole.
