San Francisco Community Action Live (SFCAL)

SFCAL is a citywide youth leadership council that takes action around teen health issues like alcohol, drugs, and violence. Youth and adults participate as partners on this council, representing many different neighborhoods, schools, organizations, and youth groups from across the city. SFCAL improves community health using environmental prevention strategies while also developing leadership skills in participants.

SFCAL recently organized a town hall meeting on alcohol access and underage drinking, attracting more than 70 community and youth leaders, public officials, school district representatives, and parents. In addition to building support for SFCAL’s Good Neighbor Merchant Campaign and a pending initiative to raise fees on alcohol, The Youth Leadership Institute recognized ten separate youth-led groups for their neighborhood-level alcohol prevention projects.
