San Francisco Friday Night Live
Youth Leadership Institute is a leader in alcohol prevention through its network of Friday Night Live chapters. Through Friday Night Live, the Youth Leadership Institute San Francisco engages young people in research, planning, and action to address environmental factors that influence substance use.
The Youth Leadership Institute San Francisco’s Friday Night Live chapter recently received a grant to expand their efforts in youth-led environmental prevention and create culturally appropriate, high impact projects to reduce underage or binge drinking among their peers. Chapters have collected hundreds of signatures to urge their local pharmacies to not sell alcohol, are meeting with a variety of merchants to urge changes in alcohol sales and promotion practices in stores frequented by youth, and are developing social marketing campaigns to shift norms around adult tolerance and provision of alcohol to teens.
