Fresno County Friday Night Live
Fresno County’s Friday Night Live chapters apply environmental prevention strategies to reduce alcohol access, consumption, and promotion among young people. Currently, the chapters are confronting the issue of "alco-energy" drinks—sugary, energy drinks, spiked with alcohol that are commonly marketed to youth. Using data collected from peers and observations in local liquor stores, the youth developed a store merchant flier, fridge door window sticker, and letter of support that inform merchants, consumers, and local elected officials of the dangers and misconceptions around alco-energy drinks. The youth are now in the process of planning a community forum to raise awareness, share findings and recommendations, and gather community input on this issue.
