Building Healthy Communities Youth Engagement Team
The Building Healthy Communities Youth Engagement Team is a group of dynamic young leaders working with adults to represent youth voice in Fresno. Over the past several months, the Youth Engagement Team has hosted trainings, workshops, and community events, and gathered input from young people to raise awareness around issues impacting urban Fresno's communities – issues such as obesity and youth violence.
Recently, the Building Healthy Communities Youth Engagement Team strengthened the community in West Fresno by partnering to clean up the Hinton Community Center. Community members of all ages came together to scrub playground equipment, paint over graffiti, and clean up the community center kitchen. After all of the hard work, the community celebrated with a barbeque, music, and a raffle.
The Building Healthy Communities Youth Engagement Team also led a collaborative photovoice project to raise awareness around issues impacting urban Fresno's communities. This project has established the team as a leader and agent of positive change in urban Fresno.
