The Youth Leadership Institute has been an innovative leader in the field of youth development for over 20 years—teaching communities to invest in developing youth, and training youth to inspire their communities by being advocates for change.

Quick Facts About The Youth Leadership Institute
- Founded by Maureen Sedonaen in 1991
- Awards include: the Congressional Award for Leadership, the Governor’s Award of Recognition, and the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Administration Award for Achievement in Youth Prevention
- Operates four community-based programs in California in Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, and the Central Valley
- Offers services to boost the capacity of other youth development and engagement programs through its social enterprise arm, The Center
- Works on the following areas of impact:

- Youth philanthropy
- Educational equity
- Civic engagement
- Decreasing alcohol, tobacco, and other drug access and use

- Engage young people in evaluating the social and community forces behind issues at hand

- Youth Leadership Institute has worked with over 80,000 young people in over 200 communities, both nationally and internationally
