youth philanthropy   Communities and foundations
recognize youth as legitimate philanthropists, and are now providing them with various ways to practice this new type of giving. YLI's youth philanthropy programs and training have empowered thousands of young people who have positively changed their own lives and communities through grantmaking.

YLI was one of the first organizations in the United States to successfully carry out large-scale grantmaking exclusively for youth-driven and youth-led projects. YLI's innovative approach takes youth out of an advisory capacity, giving them final decisionmaking authority. Our goal is to continue to transform youth grantmaking into a tool for community building for young people.
