Philanthropy Learning Network
YLI's Philanthropy Learning Network catalyzes a new level of youth involvement in philanthropy. The Philanthropy Learning Network connects Bay Area youth grantmakers and grantseekers with adult philanthropists, creating opportunities for information-sharing, mentoring, joint workshops and joint grantmaking.
The Philanthropy Learning Network paves the way for higher-level youth involvement in philanthropy by creating strong working relationships between adult philanthropists and youth, and by educating both groups about the value of youth engagement in philanthropy. In addition, the Philanthropy Learning Network helps shed light on the barriers to more extensive youth involvement in philanthropy, and how foundation staff and young people can address these barriers.
The Philanthropy Learning Network's activities during 2004-05 will directly target young people grantmakers and grantseekers and adult philanthropists in San Francisco, San Mateo, Alameda and Marin counties, and other parts of the greater Bay area.
As in prior years, the Philanthropy Learning Network will aim to engage a constituency of young people that reflects the diversity of the Bay Area.
