prevention youth councils Taking action on the real causes of alcohol, tobacco and other drug problems is the focus of YLI's Bay Area Prevention Youth Councils. These youth-led groups work to change public policies and other community factors to reduce use of these substances. The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services has officially recognized the councils as an exemplary model for engaging youth in prevention and is seeking to replicate the approach across the country. YLI coordinates three Prevention Youth Councils across the Bay Area:
San Francisco Community Action Live
Marin Youth Health Advisory Council
YO! Mateo (Youth Organizing San Mateo County)
Each Prevention Youth Council is part of the Friday Night Live member group network.
