Communities Mobilizing for Change on Alcohol (CMCA)

CMCA is a nationally recognized model program that utilizes successful community-organizing and environmental prevention strategies to reduce youth access to alcohol. CMCA employs a range of strategies that lead to changes in community policies and practices—including addressing legal, institutional, social, and health issues and altering norms and practices related to underage drinking. CMCA is a Federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Agency model program listed on the National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices.

The Youth Leadership Institute is the national trainer for the CMCA model program and currently offers two CMCA trainings:

The CMCA Foundation Training is a two-day training program that covers fundamental strategies of CMCA as well as evaluation strategies.

The Advanced CMCA Training Series is a six-day training offering participants an in-depth understanding of CMCA, environmental prevention, community organizing, policy change, and evaluation strategies.
